Tourist Places in Allahabad:

  • Triveni Sangam: Triveni-Sangam is the convergence of three rivers namely the Ganges, the Yamuna, and the Saraswathi in Allahabad. The Ganges and the Yamuna can be identified by their different colors – the water of the Ganges is clear although the Yamuna is greenish in color. The third river, the Saraswathi, is called invisible. It is also one of the famous mystical places where Hindu followers gather in the hope of attaining liberation aka Mukti from the cycle of birth and death. Apart from all of this, it is the same place where the world-famous Kumbh Mela takes place every twelve years.

 

  • Chandrashekhar Azad Park: Chandrashekhar Azad is a public park in Prayagraj. It is built in 1870 to mark Prince Alfred's visit to the city, with an area of 133 acres, it is the biggest park in Prayagraj. It was named again by the Uttar Pradesh Government after freedom fighter Chandra Shekhar Azad, who sacrificed his life here, during the Indian independence struggle in 1931.

 

  • Khusro Bagh: Khusro Bagh is a large enclosed garden and funeral complex located in muhalla Khuldabad nearby Allahabad Junction railway station, in which the graves of Prince Khusro, the eldest son of Emperor Jahangir and Sultan Begum are located. It is situated over 40 acres and shaped like a quadrangle The three sandstone tombs within this enclosed garden, represent an attractive example of Mughal architecture. The design of its main entrance, the surrounding gardens, and the three-tier tomb of Sultan Begum have been credited to Aqa Reza, Jahangir’s principal court artist.

 

  • Allahabad Fort: Allahabad Fort is a fort constructed by the Mughal emperor Akbar at Allahabad in 1583. A stone caption inside the fort describes 1583 as a foundation year. The fort is situated on the banks of the Yamuna near its merging with the river Ganges. It is recognized by the Archaeological Survey of India as a national monument. The fort was matchless for its design, construction, and artistry. This massive fort has three galleries bordered by high towers. At present, it is used by the army and only a limited area is open to visitors. The outer wall is intact and rises above the water's edge. The Patalpuri temple is also situated here.

 

  • Jawahar Planetarium: Jawahar Planetarium is named after the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. And it is present on the same campus as the Prime Minister’s home.  It is built in 1979, it is managed by Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund, having its headquarters at Teen Murti Bhavan, New Delhi. The planetarium is enclosed by lush green lawns and is a huge building with a dome-shaped roof, which leaves you spellbound with its architectural beauty. The interior of the planetarium is dim light and the ceiling is hemispherical like a sky. At the ceiling, you feel like you are sitting under the sky and looking above, watching the stars and the moon.
