Jama Masjid is now the second largest mosque in India and is also an impressive example of Mughal architecture. The mosque was built by a team of some 5,000 workers. The major structure material was red sandstone, but some white marble was also used.

It was built in 1565 A.D. nine years after the death of Humayun, by his oldest widow Bega Begam.
