  • Gwalior: Gwalior is a historical city in Madhya Pradesh. It is located 423 km away in the north from their state capital, Bhopal. It comes under the governmental district of Gwalior.   • Orchha: Orchha (or Urchha) is a city in the Niwari district of Madhya Pradesh. Orchha was established in 1531 by the Bundela chief, Rudra Pratap Singh, who became the first King of Orchha and also constructed the Fort of Orchha. The name of the city reflects 'Hidden Place'. It is one of the famous tourist destinations in the state that vaunts striking palaces, holy temples, forts, and other monuments. Tourists are attracted to Orchha by Laxminarayan Temple, Sunder Mahal, Chatteris of Orchha, Ram Raja Temple, etc. The key attractions in Orchha comprise Ram Raja Temple (the only place where Lord Ram is worshipped both as a God and a king), Laxmi Narayan Temple (known for its exclusive construction which is a melange of a fort and a temple), and the Jahangir Mahal (built-in hour of Mughal emperor Jahangir).

 

  • Khajuraho : Khajuraho is a small city in the Bundelkhand area (Chhatarpur District) of Madhya Pradesh and is well-known for its collections of Hindu and Jain temples. These temples are a UNESCO World Heritage Site for their attractive and erotic rock statues. Khajuraho has the Vindhya range of mountains as its beautiful background. This makes Khajuraho a more charming destination to visit. The holy place of Khajuraho was constructed between 950 to 1050 A.D. during the Candela dynasty of Central India. After the failure of the Candela dynasty in the 13th century, the temples were left under cover of dense date palm trees for many years, which gave the city of Khajuraho its name, Khajur in Hindi means a date. In ancient times it was known as Vatsa.

 

  • Satna: Satna is a city in Madhya Pradesh. Satna is known as one of the largest cement manufacturing cities in the world because of the abundance of limestone and dolomite deposits housed in the city. Along with this, the city is also well-known for various religious sites including Chitrakoot and Maihar. Satna is famous for its attractive temples. One of those temples, Venkatesh Mandir, is near Mukhtyarganj. It was built between 1876 and 1925 by the royal family of Deorajnagar. Shri Bihari Mandir is in the heart of Satna. It was built by a great devotee of God Krishna, Mahant Brindavan Das, in the 1880s. Bihari Mandir has been a cultural center of Satna for over one hundred years as it arranges a very famous Ram Leela which is respected by the locals. Dali Baba is a very ancient holy place of worship in Satna.

 

  • Panna: Panna is a city in the Panna district of Madhya Pradesh. It is famed for its diamond mines that’s why, it is also known as, “The Diamond City". A large group of diamond deposits spreads North-East on a branch of the Vindhya Range for 240 km and is known as the Panna group. It is also famous for beautiful and divine Temples. Panna was a Bundela Rajput State. The famous mandir of Padmavatipuri Dham, decorated with divine luster, is situated in Panna town at the center of Vindhyachal in Madhya Pradesh. Panna has a tiger reserve which is called Panna National Park. The sightings of tigers in Panna have fallen over recent years, and official tiger population figures were disputed by naturalists. Panna is also famous for its temples as there are five must-visit temples named Shree Jugal Kishore Ji, pran Nath Ji, Jagannath swami Ji, ram Mandir, and Govind dev Ji temple.

  • Tribal Museum: Tribal Museum is a large tapestry of exhaustive exhibitions showcasing tribal art and culture. It shows various features of the tribes in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The artistic displays are mesmerizing as it generates awareness about the tribal rituals, customs, forms of worship, and so on. Earlier President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the museum of Tribal Heritage on June 6, 2013. It was created and devoted to the tribal people of Madhya Pradesh. The massive gallery displays the way of life of seven important tribes of Madhya Pradesh i.e., The Bheel, Gond, Korku, Baiga, Sahariya, Bhariya, and Kol.

 

  • Shri Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga: Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is a Hindu temple devoted to God Shiva. It is situated in Khandwa in Madhya Pradesh. It is one of the 12 respected Jyotirlinga memorials of Shiva. It is on an island called Mandhata or Shivapuri in the Narmada River in Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh, and the shape of the island is like the Devanagari ॐ symbol. There are two main temples of Lord Shiva here, one is Omkareshwar (whose name means "Lord of Omkara or the Lord of the Om Sound") located on the island and the second is Mamleshwar (Amaleshwar) (whose name means "Immortal lord" or "lord of the Immortals or Devas") located on the south bank of Narmada River on the mainland.

 

  • Bhimbetka rock shelters: The Bhimbetka rock Shelter is an archaeological site in central India that spans the historic period. It is located in the Raisen District in Madhya Pradesh about 45 south-easts of Bhopal. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that comprises seven hills and over 750 rock shelters distributed over 10 km. The name Bhimbetka comes from the mythological association of the place with Bhima, one of the Pandavas in the Hindu Mahabharata. The Bhimbetka shelters display the initial touches of human life in India; a number of investigations suggest that at least some of these shelters were settled by human beings for in excess of 100,000 years. Some of the Stone Age rock paintings found among the Bhimbetka rock shelters are approximately 30,000 years old. The artists recorded scenes from the everyday lives of the people who lived in the rock shelters; for example, hunting, cooking, eating and drinking.

 

  • Buddhist Monuments at Sanchi: Sanchi is a Buddhist complex, famous for its Great Stupa, on a hilltop at Sanchi Town in Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh. It is situated about 23 km from Raisen town, and 46 kilometers northeast of Bhopal (capital of Madhya Pradesh). The Great Stupa at Sanchi is one of the oldest stone monuments in India. It was formerly commissioned by the Mauryan emperor Ashoka the Great in the 3rd century BCE. Its center was a simple hemispherical brick structure made over the relics of the Buddha. It was topped by the 'chhatra', a parasol-like structure symbolizing high rank, which was proposed to honor and shelter the relics.

 

  • Bee Falls:  Bee Falls is a natural waterfall situated in the hill station of Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh, 5 km from Pachmarhi Bus Station. It is widely known as Jamuna Prapat, and it is one of the most attractive waterfalls in Madhya Pradesh. The hill station of Pachmarhi is gifted with numerous scenic waterfalls, of which the Bee falls really stands out. More commonly known as Jamuna Prapat, the Bee Falls is flowing down from a height of about 35m and are famous for supplying water to the whole of Pachmarhi. It is named as such because from a distance the waterfall sounds like a bee. Here is a pool below and one above the waterfall. The sight of the waterfall flowing down the dense valley leaves everyone impressed. Please be careful as the steps are not well-maintained, and may be slippery during monsoon time.
