Punjab Tourist Place

Punjab is a state of India that is located in the northwestern part of the subcontinent and it is bounded by Jammu and Kashmir union territory to the north, Punjab state to the northeast, Haryana state to the south and southeast, and Rajasthan state to the southwest and by the country of Pakistan to the west. Punjab in its present form came into existence on November 1, 1966, when most of its Hindi-speaking areas were detached to form the new state of Haryana. The word Punjab is a composite of two Persian words, panj (“five”) and āb (“water”), thus suggesting the land of five rivers (the Beas, Chenab, Jhelum, Ravi, and Sutlej). Punjabi is written in the Gurmukhi script which is the most commonly spoken and the official language of the state. The main ethnic groups are the Punjabis, with Sikhs and Hindus as the dominant religious groups.
