- Mahabodhi Temple: The Mahabodhi temple, also named the "Great Awakening Temple", is a UNESCO World Heritage Site situated in Bodhgaya. It is a Buddhist temple that marks the place where the Lord Buddha is said to have achieved nirvana. The temple scatters over an area of 4.8 hectares and is 55 meters tall. The Bodhi Tree is located to the left of the temple and is thought to be the direct descendant of the actual tree under which Lord Gautam Buddha meditated and attained enlightenment and laid down his philosophy for life. Many monks and devotees can be seen performing countless prostrations to the tree.
- Bodhi Tree: The Bodhi Tree was a huge and very old holy fig tree (Ficus religiosa). It was at the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodh Gaya. Siddhartha Gautama, the spiritual tutor and founder of Buddhism, later known as Gautama Buddha, achieved Bodhi (spiritual enlightenment) while sitting under this tree. The Bodhi tree is effortlessly recognized because of its heart-shaped leaves. This tree is a regular place for pilgrims to visit, being the most important of the four holy places for Buddhists.
- Great Buddha Statue: The Great Buddha statue is one of the famous places on the Buddhist pilgrimage and tourist routes in Bodh Gaya. The statue is 19.5 m high showing the Buddha seated in a meditation pose, on a lotus in the open air. The statue was perfectly designed by V. Ganapati Sthapat and it took 7 years to complete. It is constructed from a mixture of sandstone and red granite blocks. A hollow spiral staircase inside the statue leads from the ground up to the chest. Shelves on the interior walls display 16,300 small bronze images of the Buddha. The Great Buddha statue is located in a garden at the end of Temple Street and is enclosed by smaller statues of Buddha's ten principal disciples, five on each side. The Great Buddha was the largest Buddha statue in India at the time.

It is situated right of Mahabodhi Temple, it is one of the best places to visit in Bodhgaya. It is named after Muchalinda, the king of the serpents, the Muchalinda Lake is yet another peaceful spot in Bodh Gaya. There is a myth associated with this lake. It is believed that during Buddha's sixth week of meditation, a huge storm broke out here while Buddha was meditating. It was then that Muchalinda came out from his house beneath the lake to protect Lord Buddha from the disturbance of the storm and used his cover so as not to disrupt Buddha from his meditation. The structure depicting the epic story is placed at the center of Muchalinda Lake.
